A square is a square any way up

Kindergartners are asked to name shapes whatever their size or which way they are turned. A field of mixed shapes makes them do exactly that — and a count at the bottom checks the coloring.

How it works
Ages3–6TypeMath

Name the shape, then color it.

A color by shape worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. A key at the top gives each shape a color — circles red, squares blue — and the page is full of shapes in outline, in different sizes and turned at different angles, to color by the key; a row at the bottom asks how many of each there are. Easy uses circles, squares and triangles upright; medium adds stars and hearts and turns them; hard mixes shapes that are easy to confuse, like squares with rectangles or diamonds and circles with ovals. A new page every time, with an answer key.
