Addition crosswords that check themselves where the answers cross

Every clue is a sum and every answer goes in the grid one digit a square. Across and down answers share their crossing squares, so a sum worked out wrong leaves a digit the other answer disagrees with — and the child finds the mistake without the answer key.

How it works
Ages7–10TypeCrosswords

The grid marks its own work.

An addition crossword generator, printable as a PDF. Pick 2-digit, 3-digit or 4 and 5-digit sums and generate. 3-digit clues always carry at least once and the biggest carry in two columns or more. Every answer crosses at least one other, no answer starts with a zero, and a page of graph paper for working in columns can follow each sheet.
