The least number from 0, 3 and 7 is 307
Not 037 — a number cannot start with a zero. Digit card puzzles are place value a child has to work out rather than be told: the greatest number puts the biggest digit where it is worth the most.

Put each digit where it is worth the most — or the least.
A digit cards worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. Each puzzle gives a few digit cards, all different. Pick the puzzle: the greatest and the least number that use every card once, with their sum or their difference as a third box if you like, or every two-digit number three cards can make, with one box for each so the child knows when they have them all. Choose three, four or five cards. About a third of the puzzles have a zero card when zeros are on, and a short note at the top shows why the zero never goes first. "Greatest" and "least" are the words the textbook and the state test use.

Sort
Put the cards in order in your head, biggest to smallest.
Build
Greatest: biggest first. Least: smallest first, but never a zero.
Check
Is every card used exactly once?
The puzzle
Greatest and least use every card once. Every two-digit number uses three cards and gives one box for each number, so the child knows when they have found them all.
Cards
Three cards is second grade, five is fourth.
