What times 3 makes 12?

A missing factor is division wearing a multiplication costume. Nine of them a set — and then the nine answers, which are all different, lined up from smallest to largest, so every one gets looked at twice.

How it works
Ages8–10TypeMath

Think of the times table backward.

A missing factor worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. Three sets a page, each with nine multiplication facts missing one factor — ☐ × 3 = 12 or 3 × ☐ = 12 — and a row of nine boxes underneath. The child finds each missing factor, then writes the nine answers again from smallest to largest; because the nine answers are always different numbers, a mistake tends to show up as a repeat or a gap in the row. Pick tables to 10 or to 12, and whether the box comes first, second or both. The factor shown is never 1, and every set is new, with an answer key.
