Chess knight puzzles on a board with squares missing
The knight jumps two squares one way and one to the side, and it can fly over the gaps — but it has to land on a square that is there. Reach the star in exactly the number of jumps under the board. There is only one way to do it.

Two squares straight, then one to the side.
A knight's move puzzle generator, printable as a PDF. Pick a 5 by 5, 6 by 6 or 8 by 8 board and generate. The number of jumps is the shortest possible, and exactly one route does it in that many. The two smaller boards show how a knight moves, and every board is colored like a chess board: a knight always lands on the other color, which is a check a child can make on every jump.
