Odd and even mazes where the first digit is a trap
Walk on even numbers only, or only on odd ones. At two and three digits the numbers are picked so that judging by the first digit gets it wrong — 43 starts with a 4 and is odd — which leaves the last digit, the method being taught.

The last digit is the only one that matters.
An odd and even number maze generator, printable as a PDF. Choose even or odd, pick numbers to 20, two digits or three digits, and generate. At two and three digits most numbers have a first digit of the opposite kind — the shortcut children really use to guess, and exactly the one that fails here. There is exactly one route from the arrow to the star.

At two and three digits the first digit is chosen to mislead, so the only way through is to check the last one.
