One way mazes where the arrows decide the route
Some doorways carry an arrow and may only be crossed the way it points. There is more than one way to the star and the arrows are what say which of them is legal, so a child has to read as well as look.

The arrows decide which way you may go.
A one-way maze generator, printable as a PDF. Pick a corridor width and generate. The maze has real loops in it rather than one route, because arrows on a single-route maze change nothing — and then some of the doorways are given a direction. One of them always stands against the route a child would take without reading any of them, and the route they end up taking always passes at least three, so the rule is both used and visible. No arrow can ever seal a child in: every square you can reach keeps a way back to the star Mintee lost off his cap.

Start
At the arrow on the left.
Obey
A doorway with an arrow crosses one way only. No arrow means both.
Finish
You cannot be shut in: from anywhere, a way through still exists.
Path width
How much room the pencil has, and how many one-way doorways fit in it — eight at the widest, twenty-two at the narrowest. Corridors here are wider than the rest of the family at every setting, because an arrow has to fit inside one.
