Two player mazes where both routes are the same length

One child starts at the left arrow, the other at the right, and both head for the star in the middle. The two routes are measured before the sheet is printed, so nobody loses because they were given the long way round.

How it works
Ages6+TypeMazes

Two children, two arrows, one star.

A two-player maze generator, printable as a PDF. Pick a corridor width and generate, then put the sheet between two children and start them together. The maze is grown outward from the star so that distance from the middle tracks distance across the paper, and the two entrances are then chosen from every pair on the two edges — the fairest pair wins. Over ninety sheets the gap between the two routes averages under a step. The answer key draws both routes, the second one dashed so the two can be told apart where they meet.

A Two Player Maze sheet
1

Start

One player on the terracotta arrow, the other on the mint one.

2

Race

Both head for the same star in the middle. First one there wins.

3

Fair

Both routes are measured before printing and come out the same length.

Path width

How much room the pencil has. Both routes are measured to the same length at every setting — narrower corridors make the race longer, not less fair.
