What comes after 7, and before 10?

Counting from 1 is recited. Counting on from 7 — or back from 10 — is understood. A row of balloons with some of them empty asks for the second kind.

How it works
Ages4–7TypeMath

Find two numbers side by side, then keep counting.

A missing numbers worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. Eight rows of ten balloons, each with a number, some left empty for the child to fill in. Pick how far the numbers go — to 10, 20 or 100 — and what they count by: 1s, 2s, 5s or 10s. Rows can count forward, back, or take turns, and some or most of the balloons can be empty. Every row keeps two numbers side by side, so the child can always see what the row counts by, and counting by 5s and 10s starts on a multiple, the way it is chanted. The answer key writes every missing number in.
