Multiplication you can see

Three rows of four is 4 + 4 + 4 before it is 3 × 4. An array is the picture that turns one into the other — and turned on its side, it shows why 3 × 4 and 4 × 3 are the same.

How it works
Ages7–9TypeMath

Rows first, then how many in each.

A multiplication arrays worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. Six arrays a page, three activities. Repeated addition, for second grade: up to five rows of five, with boxes for how many rows, how many in each, and the addition sentence. Multiplication, for third grade: up to ten by ten, with the multiplication fact to write. Draw: a fact is given and the child draws its array in an empty box, then writes the product; the answer key draws it. No fact and its turnaround share a page, and nothing times one. A new set every time.
