The same nine pencils, a different key every time

Coloring by number with nothing to draw — no picture, no outlines to stay inside, just the lookup and the square. For a child who is not ready to control a pencil inside a shape, this is the same exercise without the part that makes it frustrating.

How it works
Ages4–8TypeFocus

Read the number, find the color, fill the square.

A color by number worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. Pick four, five or six squares to a row and generate. The key at the top holds the same nine colors every time — red, orange, yellow, brown, sky, blue, purple, pink and charcoal — but which digit each one carries is dealt afresh for every sheet. Each row gives the numbers and leaves the squares empty. Your child needs colored pencils for this one, and the sheet should be printed in color so the key means something.
