Red, green, yellow, and follow the arrow
A pattern is easy to keep going in a straight line. Here the next circle is wherever the arrow points — across the page, over another arrow — so the child has to hold the pattern and their place at the same time.

Say the pattern, then follow the arrows.
A pattern path worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. A key at the top shows the pattern, and below it a trail of empty circles joined by arrows winds across the page, the first circle already colored. The child follows the arrows and colors each circle to keep the pattern going. Pick the pattern — AB, AAB, ABB, ABC or ABCD — and the path: a short one of 12 circles that steps neighbor to neighbor and never crosses itself, or longer ones of 20 and 24 that jump across the page and cross their own arrows. The colors are the first crayons in the box — red, blue and green, with yellow for a fourth — in a new order and on a new path every sheet, named under the key so a black-and-white print still works, and the answer key colors in every circle. Or switch the layout to strings of beads: eight strings across the page, held by a bird at each end, each string its own pattern with the first few beads colored in.
