Follow the arrows home

The animals visited the big tree. Each one's way home is written in arrows — follow them square by square, find the house, then write the way back.

How it works
Ages5–8TypeLogic

One arrow is one square.

An arrow code map worksheet generator, printable as a PDF. A grid map with a tree in the middle and houses lettered A to E; three or four animals each have a code of arrows from the tree to their home. Follow a code a square at a time, write the letter of the house you reach, then write the way back from home to the tree — every arrow turned around and in reverse order. There is always one house more than there are animals, so the last home is not found by elimination. 5×5, 6×6 or 7×7 maps; the way back can be left off for younger children.
